St. Joseph of Cupertino was born on June 17, 1603, in Cupertino, Italy, into a poor family. Known for his deep spirituality and humble demeanor, Joseph struggled with his studies and was initially rejected by several religious communities due to his lack of academic prowess. Despite these challenges, he was finally admitted to the Order of Friars Minor Conventual (Franciscans) in 1628.
Joseph is renowned for his extraordinary mystical experiences, including levitations during Mass, which led him to be considered both a saintly figure and a spiritual wonderworker. His humility and simplicity were apparent in his life and ministry, as he focused on his duties with devotion and relied on God’s grace to overcome personal difficulties.
Though he faced many trials and periods of isolation, Joseph’s faith and devotion remained steadfast. His life serves as a reminder of the importance of perseverance, trust in God, and living a life devoted to service.
